THE OLD WAY
The common method (OLD Way) uses large lags fasteners that are screwed through the membrane into the structure to attach the base shoe.
These penetrations are caulked with a sealant hoping that it will keep water out. Well it does NOT, and then it gets worse.
The water infiltration from that penetration starts the leak, which turns into water damage, structural rot & mold that can destroy your home and result in hundreds of thousands of dollars of emergency repair.
